In every souls game prior to Elden Ring, you could use all the tools at your disposal, throwing firebombs, knives etc and it was fun. You could also fight it without items and it was still fun. In Elden Ring if you don't play the game the specific way the devs want you to (summons) its massively unfun.

Jujutsu Kaisen might've been able to make stuff like Domain Expansions and other functional instant kill moves work by taking a page out of Guilty Gear's DESTROY moves. You have a timer to land them that burns your meter and eventually health if you take to long with an obvious tell and if whiffed it can't be used again for the match, but if it does land it's an instant kill just like in the soruce material, this both conveys their status as an extremely powerful one shot technique and how risky they are despite that because they burn through cursed energy so rapidly as to only really be usable once per fight, it was literally the first thing I thought of when thinking how to make a game adaptation and the blueprint for such has already been tried, tested, and ascended into a meme but because of what at this point must be like publisher policy to make everything an arena fighter or a team based 3rd person shooter for some reason (RIP Black Clover, even a factory form arena fighter would've fit better) and monopoly even obvious solutions like that get ignored.

Tenkaiichi WAS super innovative at the time. But The Naruto Ultimate Ninja series was better for naruto.

Namco is a blight on all franchises it gets, even when not doing arena fighters. Just compare Capcom's JJBA game and Namco's All Star Battle. Sure theres more characters and it might even be better balanced, but it feels a lot less of a game with how many moves are just cutscenes, not to mention most characters just feel "blander" somehow to play. And Eyes of Heaven is fucking awful, every character has incredibly limited movesets, it has to be a 2vs2 and there isn't even local multilayer

WOW. Just got this recommended. (Probably because of some controversy with the DLC) I love Elden Ring as a whole but GOD some of these bosses do not feel good to fight against. It really does not feel like we are in the same game with some of these bosses and it is even worse with the DLC bosses. I do not understand why saying "I beat the boss, but did not have fun doing it" is a wrong opinion to have according to the die hard defenders. It seems like they think that beating the boss equals having fun.

I rage quit on the gargoyles and honestly I'm just done for a while. Elden ring is my first game from the souls Franchise and I need a break.. I'm used to frustration. I'm old. Like I was 19 when the OG Xbox came out and legendary HALO kicked my ass but I did it. With that being said I gotta say that boss fights in Elden ring are ridiculously difficult.
